Learn About Nellie

​As a late bloomer queer Latine person, Nellie was generally already left out of a lot of human sexuality conversations and has worked to change that since she began teaching sex education while in college. Even then though, a lot of comprehensive sex education  avaible to her at the time left out pleasure and arousal and desire… you know, a lot of the “fun” that comes along with sexuality was too taboo. The difficult conversations of navigating pleasure and arousal when one thinks they aren’t supposed to be feeling those things. Essentially, what draws Nellie in is that she views the broad spectrum of human sexuality as one of the building blocks to liberation.

Her journey into kink started off internally and with lots of reading! She started reading smut, fanfic and erotic romance and used those as tools to see what kind of kinks she found interesting. In addition to that,  she started reading more nonfiction resources on BDSM and kink including different safety philosophies. Then she slowly began to explore submission and exhibitionism with partners until she found the Rose. The Chicago Rose has helped her feel like she has definitely been able to come out of her shell and explore things she didn’t have the community to safely explore before.

Nellie has experience teaching and running a sexuality education organization as a past in which she has taken part in doing human sexuality research at an academic level with fellow kinky peers. These experiences combined have set her up to not only train volunteers but help create an environment that is transparent, cohesive, safe and fun for all!

She is a nerd outside (and actually inside) the club. She loves to read everything from smutty romance books to classic novels. She also bakes and cooks. She likes watching all things marvel and building legos. Most of the time you can find her procrastinating by snuggling her cat, Ralph.
